When does a job need a custom connection?
A weekly report of unpaid invoices answers a simple question: which payments are we still waiting for? The assistant needs current amounts and payment status from the invoicing service. A ready-made connector can supply that access with your permission.
If your service has no ready-made link, a custom connection may use another route the service supports, such as a link built for AI assistants or a small script that requests the records. You can ask the assistant to investigate and build that route. A file export may be enough for a one-time report; repeated reports on changing records may justify a connection.
We’ll follow the unpaid-invoice report through the checks, access setup and a small test. It only reads records, so it needs no permission to change invoices or send reminders. These checks apply to other services too.
