Download each app from its maker's own site
A download is only as trustworthy as whoever packaged it. Search results can put sponsored links and bundled installers ahead of the maker's own site, and a third-party installer adds a middleman whose copy you have not verified against the maker's.
The fix skips search entirely. Type the maker's address yourself: `claude.com/download` for Claude, `chatgpt.com/download` for ChatGPT. The company that builds the app controls the file on its own page, with nobody in between.
