Why ask AI for several different drafts?
An AI draft can be perfectly plausible and still leave a better approach unexplored. An email might ask for the decision immediately or explain the background first. A tournament workflow compares drafts that take meaningfully different approaches to the same job. Each draft being considered is a candidate.
For a morning briefing, the question is how you want to start your day. A calendar-order version might begin “9:00 team call; 11:00 client meeting.” A decisions-first version might lead with “Approve the client estimate before 10:00.” The same information can support different ways of acting. Reading the versions beside each other helps you judge which arrangement serves you.
Keep a checked draft available while trying alternatives. This approach suits writing where several answers could work; a total with one right answer needs arithmetic, and a routine message that already does its job may need no comparison.
