Choose ten sent emails from Gmail

A router is a skill that chooses another skill instead of doing the work itself. “Write this in my voice” leaves one choice unresolved: clients and friends receive different versions of your voice. Use approved sent mail to build separate work and personal skills, then test a router on one work request, one personal request, and one request that needs a question.

Start with five emails you sent to clients or coworkers and five you sent to friends or family. You will use this small sample to look for possible patterns, not final rules. Skip any message you did not write yourself or would not want quoted later.

Two of your own writing voices, found in messages you have already sent, each becoming its own labeled skill card, voice-work and voice-personal, kept apart. — Ten approved sent emails will supply one work group and one personal group.

Prompt to try

Use my authorized Gmail connection and read Sent mail only. Do not send, draft, label, delete, or change any email. Find five messages I wrote to clients or coworkers and five I wrote to friends or family. If you cannot tell which people belong in each group, ask me for their names. Leave out signatures, quoted replies, forwarded text, templates written by someone else, secrets, and messages that are too private to quote. Show me the recipient, subject, and date of each proposed message, then wait for me to approve or replace it. Do not suggest voice rules or save a skill yet. If Gmail is not connected or Sent mail is unavailable, tell me what I need to connect or paste and stop.

Review the ten-message list. Remove any message that is not yours or is too private to quote, then approve five work samples and five personal samples.
