Write AI requests with clear goals and sources

When you ask Claude or ChatGPT for help, the words you type decide what the assistant works toward. That request is a prompt. A useful prompt says what the result is for, because knowing who will read it and what they will do with it helps the assistant decide what to include.

This course follows one example: a weekly client update. Dana is the client, and she decides whether her website launches on Thursday. Your project notes list the finished work and one approval that is still missing. “Use these notes to help Dana decide whether Thursday’s launch can proceed” gives the email a clear purpose. The assistant drafts the wording. When you review the draft, check whether it gives Dana what she needs for that decision.
