Vibe work / Practitioner slang
Vibe working
Applying a result-driven, implementation-oblivious AI workflow to knowledge work by steering through the finished-looking artifact while its sources, methods, or decision logic remain largely unexamined.
Vibe working extends the vibe-coding metaphor to reports, email, slides, and analysis. A team may steer a quarterly review by asking for a sharper tone and cleaner charts while never establishing where the numbers came from or how the recommendation was derived. The risk is not delegation itself. It is evaluating only the surface when hidden claims, omissions, or methods determine whether the artifact can support the next action.
Builder example
Knowledge-work tools can expose the evidence a polished artifact hides. Source links, calculation checks, required fields, uncertainty labels, and downstream acceptance tests provide stronger signals than a universal manual review screen. High-consequence or ambiguous decisions can route to an authorized specialist, while routine source-grounded outputs can proceed through automated checks.
Common confusion: An end-to-end delegated report is not automatically vibe working. If its data path, calculations, claims, and acceptance criteria are observable and tested, the workflow has an engineering contract even when no person drafts the prose.
